Remember What Independence Day Really Represents
Take a moment to reflect on what Independence Day really represents
It is not the fourth day of July we celebrate,
but the ideal of Independence that makes us great.
Jefferson put the words on paper for all to read,
he later became president and used them to lead.
We celebrate with picnics and parades on this day,
to remember the ideals that became the American way.
After a night of concerts and fireworks and other events
take a moment to reflect on what the day really represents.
"... with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence,
we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."
